  1. Many thanks for purchasing this cdrom,  If the disc is gold, silver or 
  2. green with no onbody print, please be careful with it, as we update the 
  3. Software from month to month with more up-to-date files etc.

  5. If you haven't got Winzip installed on your system please install it 
  6. now from the menu system.
  7.  
  8. The Menu system provided will autoboot once inserted into your cdrom 
  9. drive, if not, click on the autorun.exe icon on the cd.
  10.  
  11. If the program you want to install is not on the menu system.  Just 
  12. explore the cdrom & double click on any of the text files, to read 
  13. about the software.  Once you find the package you want double click 
  14. on the .exe file to start it going.

  16. Now if you have opened a (.zip file) extract the files into a directory 
  17. on your hard drive then run the setup.exe or .exe file within it.

  21. A Note on DLL Files
  22. -------------------

  24. The files in this directory are called "runtime modules". These are files
  25. which contain common code which are required by some programs. By having
  26. the common code in a runtime module, individual programs can be made smaller.
  27.  
  28. You do not have to bother with these files unless a program says that it
  29. requires one of them. The program's documentation will normally tell you
  30. which runtime module is needed and where on your hard disk to put it.

  32. If a file has a .ZIP extension, such as VBRUN200.ZIP, you can install it by
  33. changing into the DLLs directory and typing
  34.                        \PKUNZIP VBRUN200.ZIP C:\WINDOWS
  35. assuming C:\WINDOWS is your Windows directory on your hard disk.

  37. If a file does not have a .ZIP extension, such as VBRUN300.DLL, just type:
  38.                          COPY VBRUN300.DLL C:\WINDOWS

  46. Freeware is a program that the author or company allows anyone to use without paying for it. 
  47. WHY? Well, there might be different reasons. Author may want to attract attention to his 
  48. name or to his product. Sometimes two versions of a product are provided - one is freeware 
  49. and second is a commercial version with extended features.

  51. Freeware can be a beta version of a program, which means that the program is being tested 
  52. condition and might contain bugs but is fully functional.

  54. Freeware products are usually subject to license agreements, so read appropriate documents 
  55. carefully (if any).

  57. Author of freeware might ask you to register a program. This means that you fill out a 
  58. simple form with some information about yourself. By registering you will usually receive 
  59. notifications about new versions of the software or other information from the author. 
  60. Sometimes authors ask you to send a postcard or drop an E-mail message if you like the 
  61. program and intend to use it.

  63. We check the freeware status of every item before including it in our Collection (except 
  64. submissions by the authors). If you found an item that is not free it means that it is 
  65. not free anymore. Please report such items as well as broken links. It will be fixed

  69. Applications (usually Demo versions of commercial programs) which work 'for free' 
  70. only limited period of time or ask every time you start it (or often) to register it.  
  71. Programs which work 'for free' but do not provide major functionality. Do you need a 
  72. 'free' word processor, which cannot save or print files? We can show you the link or 
  73. two...

  76. registering. A free download doesn't mean a FREE product. If author states that his 
  77. product is Shareware, it means Shareware. Period.
